Antoinette Pearson, Ed.D. is the Founder, and Lead Consultant of Common Sense Learning, LLC. An educator of 20 years, Dr. Pearson has worked in various capacities in the public school system including: a teacher, curriculum leader, assistant principal, athletic director, principal, and now a consultant helping educators of various levels. Her determination and passion for creating equitable opportunities for children led to her advancement in the education field.
Antoinette matriculated through Detroit Public Schools, graduating from Renaissance High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education from Purdue University and her Master of Arts in Education Administration from Wayne State University. She is, also, a graduate of Eastern Michigan University’s Doctorate of Education program.
Antoinette discovered her passion for education in high school when one of her teachers began to discuss how many other teachers were not really committed to teaching students, but were teaching only to collect a paycheck. This made Antoinette upset and from that moment, she knew she would dedicate her life to education. Not only is Antoinette committed to helping students achieve, but she’s also committed to developing the capacity of educators.
Known as education’s change agent, Antoinette is passionate about equitable opportunities for learning. This passion for equity is evident from her participation in the following programs: Michigan Department of Education’s African American Young Men of Promise Initiative, Harvard School of Education’s School Transformation Leaders’ Institute (2013) and Family Engagement Institute (2014).
Antoinette is also an educational author and speaker. She speaks and authors from the perspective of an experienced urban educator, change agent, and a nurturing mother. Her new book Truth Transforms Education is available now for pre-order .
